PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- The outspoken fire chief in Prescott is leaving the department.

Chief Dan Fraijo told 3TV Friday night that he will step down effective Oct. 15.

The chief said the Prescott city manager invoked a clause in Fraijo's contract that allows either side to give a 30-day notice of separation.

Fraijo said he does not believe the decision had anything to with his handling of the deadly Yarnell Hill Fire or the investigation report that was released Sept. 28.

Fraijo provided a lot of the initial information about the Yarnell Hill wildfire that killed 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots on June 30.
