GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. – Mohave County authorities have identified the remains found in Golden Valley last weekend as those of a missing 74-year-old man.

Vernon Victor Williams, of Golden Valley, was reported missing on Sept. 12 by a friend. The friend said he had not seen Williams in approximately two weeks prior to contacting the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Hikers found the remains Saturday morning in the desert area near Shinarump Drive and Desert View Trail.

Williams' pickup truck was located about one-half mile from the scene.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said there was no sign of foul play.
