STATEWIDE -- The three-day-old government shutdown has not only forced the closure of national parks in Arizona, it has also affect local lakes.

While Lake Pleasant, which is not run by the federal government, is not affected by the government shutdown, most of Arizona's other lake destinations are.

Boat ramps located on federal lands are closed. Those closures do not affect private marinas.

That's the case at Woods Canyon Lake in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. Woods Canyon Lake Store and Marina is privately owned, which means it's open for business, including boat rentals.

"Right now with all the trees changing colors it is beautiful," owner Denise Van Amburgh told 3TV in an email. "Fishing has been unbelievable."

Bottom line: If you're planning on heading to one of Arizona's lakes this weekend, your best bet is to call ahead.
