Rock climber found dead on Mount LemmonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A rock climber was found dead on Mount Lemmon in Tucson Wednesday afternoon.
Pima County sheriff's deputies responded to a rescue call on General Hitchcock Highway at approximately 12:45 p.m.
While en route, they were advised that a local hiker found David Webster, 65, dangling from a rock.
When deputies arrived, they saw Webster but were unable to get close enough to assess his medical condition.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Unit, Southern Arizona Rescue Association and Mount Lemmon Fire Department responded to assist.
Rescue personnel hiked to Webster's location and determined he was dead from unknown causes.
Officials said Webster was known to be an avid rock climber in the area.
