PHOENIX – A lawyer has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an injury collision and a misdemeanor count of DUI.

Aimee Butel, 43, entered her pleas on Monday. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 30.

Butel was arrested in March following a fatal hit-and-run at 34th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

Police said the victim walked into the middle of the road just after midnight and began to take off her clothes. She was lying in the street when she was struck by a car.

According to police, Butel initially stopped but fled when officers arrived.

Officers got a description of Butel's vehicle and were able to locate her a short time later. Police said she showed signs of impairment.

Butel is a lawyer and a former Maricopa County medical examiner.
