MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. -- A Mohave Valley man was arrested Friday morning after a juvenile fatally overdosed on an illegal substance at his home earlier this month.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Richard Allan Falstad was taken into custody on a charge of negligent homicide, and two counts of child abuse.

On Sept. 21, deputies in Mohave County responded to Falstad’s home for a follow up investigation to a medical call.

MCSO said the deputies learned that two juveniles had overdosed, and were being treated at hospitals.

Falstad was contacted by authorities, at which time he reportedly stated that the juveniles had become ill at his home, with one of them experiencing seizures.

Falstad said he drove one of the juveniles to a walk-in clinic in Bullhead City. The juvenile was eventually airlifted to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas where they died.

On Friday, MCSO detectives executed a search warrant at Falstad’s home and obtained evidence that led to his arrest.

Falstad was contacted at a traffic stop and taken into custody.
