PHOENIX -- If you're looking to make a dog part of your family, Kaley O'Kelley introduced us to a wonderful 5-year-old female retriever-Lab mix named Abigail.

Shannon Nalley with Arizona Animal Welfare League said Abby has been with them for about six months.

"I think it's because she's kind of mellow in her kennel," Nalley explained. "Sometimes those dogs that aren't jumping up and kinda crazy, they get overlooked. ... We are really hoping to find her a forever home."

Nalley said Abby is house broken and fairly active; she loves to hike.

"I think she'd do great in a home that has some teenage boys," Nalley said.

Abby  does, however, need to be the only pet.

"She's got a prey drive, so she's probably not going to do well in a home with cats," Nalley explained. "And se's pretty picky about her dog friends. She probably would be best as the only dog in a home."
