PHOENIX -- A man died early Saturday morning after being hit by a car while crossing the street in a motorized scooter.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. at 40th Street and Greenway.

Police said 78-year-old Richard Ross was crossing the street when he was hit by a car that was driven by a 22-year-old woman.

Ross was rushed to a hospital where he subsequently died.

Police said it’s not yet clear who had the right of way.

The woman was not impaired at the time of the crash, and is not facing any charges.
