Couple accused of calling in bomb threat to Yuma courtPosted: Updated:
YUMA, Ariz. – A husband and wife were arrested Friday after allegedly calling in a bomb threat to a Yuma juvenile court in an attempt to delay a hearing.
Jose Zermeno, 33, and Rosalinda Chavez, 29, were booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for hoax and use of an electronic device to threaten.
The Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center was evacuated Friday after a bomb threat was called in at about 7:40 a.m., according to Yuma police.
The building was searched for approximately two hours, but no suspicious items were found and no injuries were reported.
Investigators said Zermeno, accompanied by his wife, made a telephone call from Somerton reporting a bomb had been placed at the Juvenile Justice Center.
Police said Zermeno and Chavez were scheduled to appear for a hearing and admitted to trying to delay it to a later date.
