PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says the Yavapai County Medical Examiner has confirmed that the body found in Oak Creek last week is that of 47-year-old Amy Davis.
According to YCSO, the cause of death has been listed as asphyxia due to drowning. The manner of death has yet to be determined.
Hikers found Davis' body last Thursday along the banks of Oak Creek.
The body was located about a mile south of where a backpack belonging to Davis was found.
Deputies last had contact with Davis on Sept. 12 when they performed a welfare check at a friend’s request.
Davis said she was fine at the time, and completed a phone conversation with a counselor while a deputy was present.
Davis agreed to meet with her concerned friend later that day, but she never did.
Deputies returned to Davis’ home that night, but she wasn’t there.
