Fall Favorites: Tweed and Plaid
This season we see the old traditional fabrics of fall still a staple in fashion yet delivered in new shapes and scale.
Plaids are stand outs with big Buffalo plaid prints of red and black or a more collegian plaid found in wool pants by Pendleton or pleated skirts by Alice and Olivia. Burberry is an easy source to get your plaid being that plaid is their signature print. Tweeds are just a strong this season. This heavier wool fabric is expected in jackets and coats. This season tweed is interestingly seen in the 60’s silhouette of a shift dress with 3/4 sleeves by Rag and Bone. Tory Burch offers the tweed narrow cigarette pant with a hint of paid in a rich wine color.
You can take your existing plaids and tweeds from your wardrobe and mix with the new shapes of over scaled sweaters and jackets as well as a narrow pant or pencil skirts. Ladies don’t be afraid to snatch your man’s plaid shirt or sweater. Remember the trend is over scaled! Just keep the bottom half slimmer to not overwhelm your look.
