YUMA, Ariz. -- Three people were arrested Thursday night for allegedly trying to smuggle 370 pounds of marijuana into the U.S.

Yuma Border Patrol Station agents reportedly saw eight people run east from the Colorado River and throw burlap backpacks into a Chrysler 300.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the smugglers ran back into Mexico while the Chrysler attempted to flee the area.

Agents were able to deflate the vehicle’s tires and they located the three people inside the vehicle hiding in a backyard.

Authorities said the marijuana had an estimated street value of $185,000.

The drugs and the suspects were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
