PHOENIX (AP) -- A woman whose driving the wrong way on a Phoenix freeway resulted in the death of a motorcyclist has been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.

Judge Teresa Sanders of Maricopa County Superior Court on Friday also sentenced Carol Ann Sacca to three years of probation.

Sacca had pleaded guilty to manslaughter and endangerment in the 2012 accident in which her sedan struck the motorcycle head-on, killing Scott Benson of Tempe.

Police said Sacca admitted taking a long-acting dose of morphine earlier that day and muscle relaxers but that she had prescriptions for them.

Sacca says she accidentally got on the freeway headed in the wrong direction when she struck the motorcyclist.
