MESA -- Lots of folks took advantage of the September storm to have a little fun with the high waters. Monday's rainy weather actually changed the work day for two pals in Mesa.

Since the rain put their construction job on hold for the day, Chris Harper and Chad Rupert decided instead to take out a boat for a leisurely cruise, right down a main road. The road was flooded from all the rain, so there was no cars to get in the way!

"He said get out the boat and get out there," said Harper of his buddy.

The men had found the boat in the storage area of their work, and used a shovel as an oar. "We couldn't find an oar, so we used a shovel that we thought would work just as well," Harper said. "So Chad got in the back, and I said, here, row, and I'll do the video."

The men say the water was rushing like a river in the streets near Sossaman and Warner. The water was four feet high in some places.

The two sailors also took some video and pictures to share with us. "I don;t think this is something people would think happens in Arizona," Harper said.
