Scottsdale PD search for sex assault suspect

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale Police are searching for a sexual assault suspect who forced his way into an apartment and assaulted a 21-year-old woman.

The assault happened near 78th Street and Camelback Road at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was returning to her apartment when an unknown man forced his way into the apartment while she was unlocking her front door.

Once inside the apartment, the suspect assaulted the woman as she attempted to fight him off.  After the assault, the suspect fled the apartment through a patio door. 

Police say the victim suffered injuries during the attack. She did not require hospitilization. It's believed that the suspect may have gotten injured, but police didn't know what type of injuries he had.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early twenties. He's around 5'11" in height, has a thin build and has a 1/4 inch afro style haircut. He was wearing a white t-shirt, baggy pants, gray boxers and had a blue Chicago Bulls hat.

A composite sketch of the suspct is being worked on and police will release it as soon as it's completed.
