MCSO: Mother arrested for burning son over stovePosted: Updated:
GILA BEND, Ariz. -- A Gila Bend woman was arrested by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly burning her 2-year-old son on her stove.
MCSO said on Thursday a tip was called in to Child Protective Services claiming that 26-year-old Anna Elena Ochoa was aggressive and abusive to her three children.
CPS looked into the claim and discovered that the 2-year-old child was suffering from severe burns.
MCSO said detectives spoke with Ochoa, who admitted that on Tuesday she became frustrated with her son after he wet himself while she was getting ready for work.
Ochoa allegedly took her son’s clothes off, turned on an electric stovetop burner, and held the child over the stove.
Ochoa reportedly told investigators that her son never made direct contact with the stove, but she didn’t know how long she had held him over the stove.
According to MCSO, the 2-year-old also had bruises to his lower back, and blisters on his lips and fingers.
MCSO said according to the tip provided to CPS, Ochoa had also made comments like, “I’m gonna hurt him because I am fed up with him,” and, “I don’t love him.”
CPS has taken custody of all three children, while Ochoa was booked into jail on one count of child abuse.
