Police investigating after teen found dead in Phoenix home

PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are investigating the death of a high school student after he was found unconscious in his home earlier this week.

Police said 17-year-old Alexis Urbina-Ochoa stayed home from school on Tuesday and was last seen by a family member at around 10 a.m.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Urbina-Ochoa was found unconscious inside the home, which is in the area of 2nd Street and Wier Avenue.

Police said Urbina-Ochoa had visible signs of trauma and was taken to a local hospital. He died as a result of his injuries on Thursday afternoon.

Police are treating Urbina-Ochoa’s death as a homicide, but are waiting for an autopsy to be completed.

According to police, there were no signs of forced entry at the home, but it is believed that items inside the house were taken.
