BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – A man is in custody in connection with the murder of a Bullhead City father of five whose body was found wrapped in plastic shower curtains and duct tape two years ago.

Chase Robert Salveson, 42, was arrested in Nevada on Saturday. He faces first-degree murder charges.

Bullhead City police said the body of Raymond Arthur Sanchez, 36, was found on Aug. 21, 2011, near the entrance of the Colorado River Nature Center. He had been stabbed more than 80 times, according to police.

Detectives discovered that before Sanchez was killed, he was blamed for stealing a large amount of methamphetamine from local drug dealer Nora Yesenia Sandoval, 35, according to police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt.

Sanchez's friends told police that he was afraid and believed Sandoval sent people to hurt him.

During the investigation, police learned that Sandoval had bought three plastic shower curtains and cleaning supplies on the same day that Sanchez was murdered. Police said she was uncooperative with police during interviews.

Police received an anonymous tip in June stating that Salveson was responsible for Sanchez's murder. Detectives learned that Salveson was selling methamphetamine for Sandoval and was in debt to her, according to Fromelt.

In August, the Department of Public Safety crime lab reported that Salveson's DNA was located on the duct tape that was used to wrap the victim's body.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police assisted detectives and arrested Salveson in Laughlin, Nev., on a temporary felony homicide warrant. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas and is awaiting extradition.

In September 2012, Sandoval failed to appear to her jury trial where she was found guilty for methamphetamine sales. Anyone with any information on Sandoval’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement.

At this time, Sandoval has no outstanding warrants in connection to this homicide.

Anyone with additional information about this case is urged to contact Bullhead City detectives at 928-763-9200.
