SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A hiker was rescued Sunday morning after getting lost while hiking in the Scottsdale Preserve.

The Scottsdale Fire Department says the woman started hiking at around 8 a.m. at the Gateway Trailhead.

She would eventually become lost in the trails, and was unable to make her way down from the mountain.

After running out of water the woman called her boyfriend, who in turn called 9-1-1.

Fire crews were able to locate and rescue the woman about 7 or 8 miles north of the trailhead.

She was evaluated by paramedics, and released after it was determined she did not need any treatment.
