PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police will ask prosecutors to decide if a father whose infant son died after being left in a parked car will face charges.
Police identified the child on Thursday as 3-month-old Jamison Gray.
Jamison's father had gone to a sports bar where he works as a kitchen manager at about noon on Wednesday to check on business and left his son in the car as he went inside.
Temperatures in Phoenix were about 100 degrees at the time, but car interior temperatures soar once the air conditioning is turned off.
Police spokesman Tommy Thompson says the 32-year-old father apparently was distracted and forgot his son was in the car.
Thompson says investigators will submit their reports to the Maricopa County Attorney, which will decide if charges are warranted.
A memorial fund has been established for Jamison Gray at themamacurd.blog.com.
