YUMA, Ariz. (AP) -- Federal authorities have arrested two men at the southwestern Arizona border after nearly five pounds of heroin allegedly was found in their shoes.

U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector's Wellton Station arrested the men Tuesday at the Interstate 8 checkpoint east of Yuma.

Authorities say the two men were escorted from a shuttle bus for a secondary inspection at the checkpoint after an alert by a Border Patrol drug-detection dog.

Agents reported finding a combined 4.85 pounds of heroin in the men's shoes.

They say the heroin has a value of more than $150,000.

The men and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Border Patrol officials didn't immediately release the names and hometowns of the two men arrested.
