Donate water, get free coffee at Dunkin' DonutsPosted: Updated:
VALLEYWIDE – If you’re a coffee lover, Dunkin’ Donuts has a deal that’s a win for you and for the Valley’s homeless population. The whole thing revolves around water.
Although summer is winding down and our triple-digit temperature begin to give way to more moderate highs, water is still essential and it’s something the homeless often do not have.
When you donate a case of bottled water at any of the 48 Dunkin’ Donuts shops in the Valley, you’ll receive a punch card for five – yes, five – free medium hot or iced coffee drinks.
The water drive is a partnership between Dunkin’ Donuts and the Phoenix Rescue Mission, and it runs through Friday, Sept. 6.
“We need this water right now at the Phoenix Rescue Mission to take out into the streets to help the homeless,” Nicole Pena told 3TV’s Yetta Gibson. “It’s going to be hot for the next couple of months. … The risk of dehydration is still very, very there.”
As fall approaches, people often forget that the need for water, which is increased during the hot summer months, never ends. “This drive helps us carry that water into September, October,” Pena explained. “It’s so simple. Dunkin’ Donuts has made it so easy for you.”
Depending on where you go, a case of 24 16.9-ounce bottles of water generally runs less than $8, often much less. At Safeway, for example, a case of Arrowhead is $5 and case of Aquafina, Dasani or Nestle Pure Life runs $5.50. A case of Safeway’s house label, Refreshe, is just $2.70 with their club card. That's less than two medium Dunkin’ coffees cost.
