PHOENIX -- During these dog days of summer, our pooches might be craving a little canine comfort. The latest trend for our four-legged friends? Air conditioned doghouses.

We all love to spoil our pets. But Fallon Lawson from Ricky Lee's Doghouses shows us how to take pampering your pooch to the extreme.

Lawson says the company designs the doghouses just like real houses. You pick a roof, wall color, and trim color. You can even add a front porch! The units include sliding doors so you can easily change the air filter. Inside there are tiled floors and a drain for easy clean up.

"There's vinyl tile flooring on the inside," Lawson says. "Pretty much like you're customizing your own home, you pick your size, then you pick your floor plan."

Then, the company adds a standard room A/C unit that plugs right in the wall. You can even purchase the version that includes a remote control.

And for doggies who don't like the dark, there's even a nightlight.

The doghouses cost between $300-$600 depending on the model. The extra charge on your utility bill should be minimal, since it just costs about five to ten cents a month to run it.

We asked Lawson how she came up with this doggone good idea. "It was an idea of my dad's about 30 years ago," she says. "We just took it and revamped it and made it stylish."
