PHOENIX -- Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these construction projects from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Repairs in the Deck Park Tunnel mean major closures to the I-10 around Downtown Phoenix.
•Westbound Interstate 10 closed between the Interstate 17 'Split' near Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 24) and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 25) for tunnel repair work. Southbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound I-10 closed. Airport's west end ramp connections to northbound State Route 51 and eastbound Loop 202 will remain open. Westbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10 will be open. DETOUR: Westbound I-10 traffic will detour along northbound I-17. Westbound Loop 202 traffic entering westbound I-10 will exit at Seventh Street and use McDowell Road to travel beyond closure at Seventh Avenue. Sky Harbor traffic leaving airport's west end can reach westbound I-10 by going west on Buckeye Road, east on I-10 and north on I-17.
•Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Citrus Road and Estrella Parkway in Goodyear from 11 p.m. Friday to 11:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 24) and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 25) for work to switch traffic within construction zone. Eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Sarival Avenue and off-ramp at Estrella Parkway closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time, be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone and use adjacent on- or off-ramps in the area.
•Sarival Avenue closed between McDowell Road and Portland Street in Goodyear from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (Aug. 26) for removal of old Interstate 10 bridge. DETOUR: Consider using Estrella Parkway as alternate north-south route in the area.
