Arrest in deadly Yuma hit-and-run

YUMA, Ariz. -- Yuma police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 14-year-old girl who was riding her skateboard.

Mary Rodriguez died Sunday evening at a Phoenix hospital of injuries suffered in the Saturday morning accident.

Police said the girl was riding her skateboard in a crosswalk, when a car struck her, then fled.

On Monday, Yuma officers arrested Edgar Borquez, 23, at his home. His car was seized as evidence.

During the investigation into the accident, the suspect's parents, Guadalupe Borquez, 57, and Olivia Borquez, 54, were interviewed and admitted to concealing evidence.

Suspect Edgar Borquez was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on charges of 2nd degree murder and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.  His parents were booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on charges of hindering prosecution.
