GILBERT, Ariz. – A man was arrested following two shootings in Gilbert Saturday night.
Gilbert police officers responded to a call of shots fired in a neighborhood near Gilbert and Ray roads at approximately 11 p.m. and found a large house party with evidence that gunshots were fired.
Police estimate that there were up to 100 people at the party and that 20 to 30 rounds had been fired.
An officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the area and discovered a woman with a gunshot wound to her arm. She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
About an hour later, officers responded to a call of shots fired at a Shell gas station near Gilbert and Warner roads but did not find any victims or suspects, according to police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Sanger.
Police later received a call from Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center regarding a shooting victim and determined that the man was a victim from the gas station. He sustained a gunshot wound to the back, which was not life-threatening.
Jahquel Delvon Will Lewis, 20, of Phoenix, was taken into custody and interviewed. Sanger said information implicated Lewis as a shooter at both scenes.
Lewis was booked on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of a drive-by shooting.
Police have not released the names of the victims, saying only that they were young adults.
Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call 480-503-6500.
