PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store twice overnight and shot the clerk in the leg.

Police said the man stole beer and food during the first robbery at the AM/PM store on 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

He then came back about an hour later, demanding cigarettes and money. That's when police say he shot the clerk.

After leaving the store, he backed into concrete pillars, damaging the back of the vehicle. He still managed to get away.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the suspect.

The clerk remains in the hospital in stable condition.
