PHOENIX -- A man is dead after he was hit by a truck while walking Friday night.

Police say Jorge Islas, 22, was crossing McDowell Road mid-block on 65th Avenue when he was struck by a westbound 1993 Ford F150.

Islas was transported to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The 35-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, stayed at the scene.

"This case is still ongoing, but it appears that alcohol may have been a factor on the part of both the driver and the pedestrian," said Phoenix Police Department spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
