PHOENIX – A husband and wife are accused of stealing mail in the Phoenix area and Sedona..

Stephen Wayne Ross, 43, and Shawna Norene Ross, 47, were arrested at a hotel near Priest Drive and Elliot Road Thursday afternoon.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said they both had felony warrants for their arrests for forgery-related charges.

Officers searched their hotel room and discovered stolen items of mail from Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and Sedona, according to Thompson. They also seized a printer and other items used to forge checks, as well as illegal drugs.

Agents from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Phoenix police officers are still investigating the case, but it is believed that the couple targeted hundreds of victims.

The suspects were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on the arrest warrants, but Thompson said they will face additional charges as the investigation continues.
