CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A 2-year-old girl who was found in a backyard pool in Chandler Wednesday afternoon has died.

Chandler Fire Department personnel and police officers responded to a home near Alma School and Frye roads at about 1:15 p.m.

First responders found adults attempting CPR on the child and took over life-saving measures, according to Detective Seth Tyler with the Chandler Police Department.

The toddler was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition. She was later pronounced dead.

According to police, the child was being watched by her grandmother and uncle. She got out of a playpen and crawled through a doggy door. Her uncle found her in the pool.
