MESA, Ariz. – A Mesa man is facing charges after getting into a fight with police officers while he was drunk.

It happened shortly before 10 p.m. Monday in the neighborhood northeast of Eighth Avenue and Country Club Drive.

According to police, Timothy Madrid, 26, was “threatening a neighbor and causing a disturbance.”

Responding officers tried to talk to Madrid, but said he was “intoxicated and uncooperative.”

The situation took a bad turn when the officers attempted to take Madrid into custody.

Police said Madrid fought the officers, kicking three of them. Officers finally used a Taser™ to subdue Madrid. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

Police do not know why Madrid allegedly was threatening his neighbor.
