PHOENIX -- Inmates at Maricopa County’s Tent City don’t usually have much to celebrate, but that wasn’t the case on Saturday.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s highly publicized jail turned 20 years old Saturday, and to celebrate, Arpaio set aside his “no frills” policy for the day.

Inmates were allowed to enjoy coffee, candy, G-rated magazines, better food, and some music from the 1990s.

Sheriff Joe said Saturday that almost 500,000 inmates have served time at Tent City during its 20 years.
