PHOENIX (AP) -- A former math teacher at an all-boys prep school in Phoenix who was accused of sexually abusing several students decades ago has changed his plea.

Maricopa County prosecutors said Thursday that 71-year-old Dan Whitehead pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse.

He also pleaded no contest to another count of sex abuse and one count of furnishing obscene or harmful items to minors.

Whitehead is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 27.

He was arrested last September and pleaded not guilty.

Whitehead was fired in November 2011 after two former Brophy College Preparatory School students claimed he molested them in the 1980s. The students didn't want police contacted.

Phoenix police investigated anyway and found that Whitehead allegedly invited students home, gave them alcohol and then tried to fondle them.
