FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Downtown Flagstaff doesn't look the same now that the Cardinals Training Camp has moved to Glendale.
Locals say it feels weird that it's not in Flagstaff for the first time in 20 years.
Residents aren't the only ones feeling the sting. Local businesses that benefited from the camp's presence estimate their loss to be in the millions.
"Every year, there's one month we can guarantee we'll be busy for the whole month straight," said Jeremy Meyer, who owns a bar in the downtown area. "This year that guarantee is gone."
Officials with the Cardinals said they moved the location for a couple of different reasons. There's currently a nationwide trend of NFL teams training in their home stadiums, which they are hopping on board with. But they were also not impressed with Northern Arizona University's accommodations for the players, keeping them in the dorms.
