PHOENIX -- Homeless people can't usually celebrate their birthdays, but a woman changed that on Sunday.
The Rev. Dorothy Wellington held the 5th annual homeless birthday celebration at Monterey Park on Oak Street near Central Avenue. She gave out socks and shoes to those who came out.
"The most important thing is the joy that they feel because they know someone cared enough to stop and say happy birthday," Wellington said.
Scottsdale Bundt Cake donated desserts for the event and Sanderson Ford even donated a car for Wellington for the weekend because she doesn't own a vehicle.
