Officer hurt during attack at Winslow state prisonPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Department of Corrections says it will seek criminal prosecution of two inmates at the state prison complex in Winslow for an attack on a corrections officer.
Department spokesman Bill Lamoreaux says the officer is being treated for a broken nose and a broken cheekbone suffered during the attack Friday.
Lamoreaux says the incident remains under investigation and that details of what happened aren't immediately available.
However, he says it occurred at the prison complex's Kaibab unit as the inmates were being readied to go to the dining hall.
The unit is classified as "close" security, a category between medium and maximum security.
