Border patrol seizes $1 million in drugs

NOGALES, Ariz. -- Customs and Border Protection officers seized about $1 million in drugs from six different people over the weekend, all in separate incidents.

On Friday, two Arizona residents were found with drugs in their cars. Officers found 11 pounds of meth and heroin in the front bumper of Deniz Sneed's front bumper, as well as 17 pounds of meth and cocaine in Dominic Damiano's Honda van.

Three residents of Mexico were discovered with drugs on Saturday. Narcotics detection dogs discovered 55 pounds of marijuana in the gas tank of Rene Serrano's GMC, 21 pounds of meth in the rear-quarter panels of Elvia Cruz's Toyota, and 17 pounds of meth in the front seats of Francisco Avelar's GMC.

Finally on Sunday, officers found 93 pounds of marijuana hidden among various parts of an Buick SUV, belonging to Peoria resident Kellie Christensen.

All subjects were referred to Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicles were processed for seizure.
