PHOENIX -- A woman was killed and several other people were injured in a crash that followed a hit-and-run collision in Phoenix Monday afternoon.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said a Chevy Trailblazer was involved in a minor rear-end collision with a silver two-door Mazda at the intersection of Southern and 27th avenues. The Mazda driver fled and the driver of the Trailblazer followed.

As the vehicles approached a red light at Baseline Road and 27th Avenue, the female driver of the Trailblazer failed to stop and T-boned a westbound Dodge Caravan, according to Crump.

The Dodge rolled onto its side and came to rest upside down just off the roadway. The Trailblazer rotated after impact, ejecting the front seat passenger.

Crump said none of the occupants of either vehicle were restrained, which included three teenagers in the Trailblazer, but both vehicles had air bags that deployed.

The passenger of the Dodge, identified as Rosalba Rojas, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene.

All the other occupants of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of the vehicles were evaluated and toxicology results are pending.

The Mazda driver has not been located. He is described only as a Hispanic male believed to be in his 20s.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
