TEMPE, Ariz. -- Who says vinyl is a thing of the past? Zia Records has announced plans to make a ninth addition to its chain of stores.

A new store is expected to open on Mill and Southern avenues in early fall. A press release says the 10,000-square-foot store will be stocked with music on CD and vinyl, vintage and modern video games and systems, movies, toys and books.

"As Zia has grown, we've outgrown our current store sizes," said vice president Brian Faber. "With this bigger location, we can continue to show our customers what we can do with more space."

The press release further says the current location on Mill Avenue and University Drive will become a Zia Clearance Outlet store that will carry pre-owned merchandise and bargains.

The music store chain plans to employ 45 people between the two locations.
