MESA, Ariz. -- Police say a man hurt an officer while running from a noisy party early Sunday morning.

At about 1 a.m., officers responded to a report of a loud party at a home by Crismon and Broadway roads.

One street south, officers found Christopher Thompson, 20, attempting to flee the area. He ignored commands to stop where he was and pushed an officer down while continuing to run.

Officials said the officer sustained an injury to his knee when he was knocked to the ground.

Thompson was located while attempting to flee down a canal bank.

Police said he admitted he ran from the party because he knows he has a warrant.

Thompson was arrested on counts of aggravated assault to a police officer, underage consumption, and an outstanding warrant.
