SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Police arrested a 26-year-old man after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's Scottsdale apartment and attempted to choke and sexually assault her.

Isiah Scales was arrested Friday for making threats and violating an order of protection when he wouldn't leave the woman's apartment, according to Scottsdale police. He saw a judge and was released the next morning.

Police were called back to the apartment complex near Indian School Road and 78th Street at about 10:45 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a male suspect climbing a tree to get to a second-floor apartment.

The police officers heard muffled screams coming from the upstairs unit and forced entry. They found Scales naked and took him into custody without further incident.

The 24-year-old victim refused medical treatment.

Scales was booked into jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping and aggravated assault.
