MESA, Ariz. -- Mesa police have arrested a man suspected of robbing a Compass Bank twice this month.
According to the Mesa Police Department, Ahmad Conner, 28, entered the bank near Southern Avenue and Alma School Road at approximately 4:20 p.m. Friday. He pointed a handgun at numerous tellers and demanded money.
He then fled southbound on Alma School in a white Ford Crown Victoria. A police officer saw the suspect vehicle abruptly pull into a neighborhood south of Baseline Road then lost sight of the car.
An air unit spotted the vehicle and the suspect proceeded to bail out then began jumping into backyards. He was apprehended in the backyard of a home near Baseline and Extension roads.
Police said bank surveillance and witness information confirmed Conner was the person who robbed the bank.
Police said he also was responsible for an armed robbery at the same Compass Bank on July 1.
Conner was booked for one count of armed robbery, one count of robbery, two counts of criminal trespass in the first degree, one count of theft and one count of aggravated assault.
