Mesa man arrested for allegedly stabbing girlfriend

MESA, Ariz. -- Mesa police have arrested a 25-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend during an argument on Saturday.

Police say that the 24-year-old female suffered serious stab wounds when she and Xavier Vincent Nixon argued at a home in the area of 1000 S. Longmore. It's not known what the argument  was over.

Nixon faces attempted second-degree murder charges.

The female victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

Police are continuing their investigation.
