PHOENIX (AP) -- A man accused of stabbing his mother at a Phoenix restaurant and then attempting to behead her has pleaded not guilty.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 35-year-old Michael Lee Hansen entered his plea Thursday.
His next scheduled court appearance is Sept. 4.
Hansen was arrested earlier this month following the attack at the Sakura Sushi and Steakhouse.
His mother suffered non-life threatening injuries. Her name hasn't been released.
Phoenix police say Hansen allegedly punched his mother, knocked her unconscious and stabbed her around her neck and hands.
Detectives say Hansen admitted to hitting his mother and attempting to cut her head off.
He also told authorities that the attack allegedly stemmed from pornographic pictures of him.
Police say Hansen was charged with attempted murder and was being held on $250,000 bond.
