PHOENIX -- Back-to-school is right around the corner. And buying supplies for class can get pretty expensive. But using coupons and shopping store ads can help put a dent in your shopping costs.
Local coupon expert Christine Springer has some tips on cutting costs when you hit the stores.
"It's a marathon, not a sprint." says Springer. "The best strategy for parents is to pick up a few things each week and get the best deals."
Every week, different stores will have different items on sale, so shop the sale ads in the Sunday paper to find that week's best deals.
Store rewards and savings cards can also help you cut costs. "Don't leave home without your store rewards," advises Springer.
There are lots of online resources and blogs that can help parents track the best deals. Springer also keeps a notebook organized with her coupons.
