PHOENIX -- An armed robbery suspect was shot by police after robbing a Circle K in Phoenix.

According to police, a 21-year-old man, a 14-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old girl walked into the Circle K near 29th Avenue and Cactus at around midnight and held up the clerk at knifepoint.

The group reportedly took beer, cigarettes, and donuts before fleeing in a minivan.

Police were eventually able to catch up with the trio when they crashed in a nearby alley.

The 21-year-old reportedly got into an altercation with one of the responding officers, at which time there was a struggle for the officer's gun.

The officer eventually gained control of his firearm and discharged it, striking the man.

The suspect is now said to be in serious condition at the hospital.

The 14-year-old was bitten by a police dog before he was arrested. The 13-year-old was also arrested a short time later.

No officers were injured, and the clerk wasn’t harmed.
