PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A Prescott woman is facing a felony DUI charge after she allegedly crashed into a road construction crew while driving drunk, according to Lt. Ken Morley with the Prescott Police Dept.

It happened Tuesday evening at approximately 8:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Whipple Street.

Police said Stephanie Bustamante, 43, was driving a pickup truck when she hit four different construction vehicles including a milling machine.

There were 35 road crew workers in the area of the crash, which covered over 1,700 feet from initial impact to the pickup truck’s final point of rest.

The workers who were on foot were not injured, however, two of the drivers in the construction vehicles suffered whiplash-like injuries.

Officers attempted to speak with Bustamante about the collisions, but she would not tell them what happened.

Investigating officers reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She had minor cuts and bruises and was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center (West) for evaluation. Bustamante had no serious injuries and was released to police custody a short time later.

Prescott Police officers obtained blood and urine samples from Bustamante for analysis. She also provided a breath sample which indicated a blood alcohol concentration almost three times the legal limit in Arizona.

The two workers injured during the traffic crash were taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center (West) and released Tuesday Evening. The significance of their injuries is still unknown.

Bustamante was arrested and charged with felony DUI, felony endangerment, and aggravated assault. She has multiple counts related to each crime.

She was transported to the YCSO Jail in Camp Verde and booked.
