SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities in Cochise County say two Sierra Vista-area girls missing since Tuesday night have been found safe.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas says Haley Churney, 14, and her 5-year-old cousin, Brittany Marshal, "went to a local church and met with family friends and were invited to stay unknown to the parents," Capas said in a news alert Wednesday morning.
The girls were last seen during a Tuesday evening rainstorm when they told family members they were going outside to look for tadpoles. They were reported missing shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Cochise County sheriff's deputies are talking to the girls and the family friends with whom they stayed.
