Bashas' raises $121K for Yarnell firefighters

PHOENIX -- In one week, Bashas' has raised $121,000 for the 19 firefighters who died in the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Starting July 1, Bashas' began asking customers at the register if they would like to donate to the firefighters. The response was overwhelming.

"We are humbled to see our customers respond so generously," said Kristy Jozwiak, a spokeswoman for Bashas'. "We hope these efforts can provide some relief to survivors of these and future fallen firefighters and officers."

All donations go to the Salvation Army and 100 Club of Arizona, which provides financial assistance and resources to public safety officers and firefighters when they are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.

Donations will continue to be accepted by Bashas', Food City, and AJ's Store.
