NOGALES, Ariz. -- A report from Customs and Border Patrol says an Arizona man and three Mexicans were arrested in separate incidents for attempting to smuggle 45 pounds of drugs into the United States through a Nogales port on Friday, July 5.

In the first incident, officers found 10 packages of cocaine on a 23-year-old man from Nogales. The 26 pounds of frugs, found in the backseat of the man's Ford SUV, were valued at almost $233K.

A few hours later, a narcotics detection canine alerted officers about the presence of heroin in the back of a 22-year-old Mexican woman's car. Officers seized 13 pounds that were worth more than $174K.

In a third incident, a 16-year-old Mexican boy was caught with 1.5 pounds of meth, valued at $23K, hidden in his groin area.

Finally, officers searched a 28 year old Mexican woman's Ford sedan and found $75K worth of meth. The five pounds of drugs were discovered underneath the front passenger's seat.

All four subjects were referred to Homeland Security Investigations.
